Estate Planning

Wills
The hardest part about making a will is actually starting the process. Sitting down and planning for your passing makes you think about your passing. But having a plan in place isn't necessarily for you, but for those important people around you. You want to make sure that they're taken care of, and that those in your life who need the most will get it. Who will be responsible for raising your kids if you're gone tomorrow? If you don't plan now, you don't get to make that decision.
Trusts
You want to leave money or property for your grandchildren, but they're toddlers. Or you want your friends to avoid inheritance taxes. Trusts can be simple or complicated, modifiable or set in stone. Trusts are also not ideal for everyone, and someone offering to establish a trust for you before you explain your circumstances does not have your best interests in mind. Bad things happen. Sometimes people end up unable to care for themselves. And it's not always the elderly. Whether it's dementia or an accident, you want to make sure your loved ones are receiving the proper care they need. Without something in place, it's necessary to petition the court for a guardianship. There are guardianships over the person for medical decisions, and over the estate to handle that person's finances. I can help get you into court immediately if the need arises so that you are there to ensure the person who matters to you is getting the help they need and deserve.
Probate
The loss of loved ones is hard enough. Settling their estate is not the first thing you want to do while you're dealing with that loss. I can help you open their estate, pay their bills, transfer their assets, and satisfy the state that all necessary taxes have been paid.
